Biography

Giacomo Gabusi was born in Bologna and began taking piano lessons at the age of 7. He entered the Conservatorio G.B. Martini in Bologna at a very young age in the organ and organ composition class of Professor Gianpaolo Bovina, studied with Professor Giuliana Maccaroni and graduated with honours in 2019 under the guidance of Professor Marco Arlotti.
He then attended the Master of Chamber Music held by Professor Guido Felizzi at the Conservatory of Bologna and then moved to the Musik-Hochschule in Mainz to study in the class of Professor Gerhard Gnann and Professor Jurgen Kaise

During his training period, he took part in masterclasses and advanced courses not only in organ but also in harpsichord and chamber music.
These include repertoire masterclasses with Jean-Pierre Lecaudey, Francesco Tasini, Andrea Macinanti, Emanuele Carlo Vianelli, Javier Artigas, Stefan Baier and Ireneusz Wyrwa.
He deepened the art of organ improvisation with Stefano Rattini, Thomas Lacôte and Stefan Viegelahn.
He specialised in harpsichord under Maria Luisa Baldassarri, Olivier Baumont, Markus Stein, João Janeiro and Francesco Corti.

In 2019, he won the Bibione International Organ Competition and came third at the Festivalul Internațional de Orgă Timorgelfest in Timisoara.
In 2022, he won second prize at the International Organ Competition Daniel Herz in Brixen and received the Prize for Cultural Promotion of the Rotary Club Mainz-Churmeyntz.

On the recent CD of the Mainz-Neustadt e.V. Organ Society 'Mainzer Klangfacetten', Maestro Gabusi can be heard playing works by J. Alain and O. G. Blarr.
